Virtual Success at the Winterfest Competition for CR Gymnasts

On January 30th the Campbell River Gymnastics Association competed virtually for the Winterfest competition hosted by the Aviva Gymnastics Centre in Coquitlam.  This was the first competition of the year for most of the athletes.  Athletes combined for 18 medals and multiple ribbons for a strong showing for the start of their competition season!  Congrats to all the athletes!  Following are all the results.

CCP 10

Jordan Loock captured the Silver medals on both Vault and Bars, placed 5th on Floor and 8th on Beam to come home with the Bronze medal in the All Around.

CCP 9 2004-2006

Hannah Herschler captured the Gold medal on Bars, won the Silver medals on both Vault and Beam, took home 4th place on Floor to come home as the All Around Champion!

Ksenia Stansell captured the Gold medal on Floor, won the Bronze medal on Vault, placed 4th on both Bars and Beam to come home in 4th place in the All Around.

CCP 8 2005-2008

Ava Herschler won the 5th place ribbon on Bars, took 6th place on both Beam and Floor, finished 8th on Vault to come home in 6th place in the All Around.

Rayne Loock won the 7th place ribbons on Vault and Beam, took 8th place on Floor, finished 9th on Bars to come home in 7th place in the All Around.

CCP7  2008-2009

Rihanna Dill captured the Bronze medal on Floor, won the 4th place ribbon on Beam, placed 10th on Bars and 18th on Vault to come home in 8th place in the All Around.

CCP 6 2005-2007

Shyanne Johnson won the Gold medal on Bars, captured the Bronze medal on Vault, placed 6th on Beam and 7th on Floor to come home in 4th place in the All Around.

CCP 6 2010

Polly Klipa won the Gold medal on Bars, brought home the 4th place ribbon on Vault, placed 5th on Floor and 7th on Beam to come home with the Bronze medal in the All Around.

Kaylie Lofstrom won the Gold medal on Vault, captured the Bronze on Bars, placed 6th on Beam and 7th on Floor to come home in 4th place in the All Around.

Sophie Pallan captured a Bronze medal on Vault, took 9th place on Beam, finished 14th on Bars and 22nd on Floor to come home in 12th place in the All Around.

Grace Fraser took 12th place on Beam, placed 13th on Bars, finished 15th on Floor and 19th on Vault to come home in 14th in the All Around.

Chloe Stewart took 13th place on Floor, finished in 21st place on Vault, Bars and Beam to come home in 20th place in the All Around.

CCP 6 2011-2015

Haylee Toohey captured the Bronze medal on Floor, won the 6th place ribbon on Beam, placed 8th on Bars and 16th on Vault to come home in 7th place in the All Around.

CCP 3 2010-2012

Alyse Aydon placed 14th on Bars, took 15th position on both Floor and Beam, finished 16th on Vault to come home in 15th place in the All Around.

New skills unleashed in Coquitlam

The Campbell River Gymnastics Association sent athletes to the Winterfest competition held in Coquitlam on January 25th and 26th for their warm up competition of the year.  This is a great competition to try new skills and see where we are at.

Brooklyn Batch in the JO 10 division added a shoot over on bars for the first time, a back layout one and a half twist on off the beam as well as a split ¾ twist leap, and added a front layout 1&1/2 twist on the floor as well as a switch half to split full for her leap line.

Jordan Loock in JO 9 added a shoot over on bars, a switch leap to split leap and a split ¾ twist on the beam as well as a front layout 1&1/2 twist on the floor.

Tyza Skuse added a kip cast to handstand pirouette in her bar routine, and a switch leap to split leap on beam with a gainer back tuck dismount off the end.  Tyza also added a front pike to front layout on the floor with a double twist finish.

Ksenia Stansell added a back layout one and a half twist to punch front pike for the first time in her floor routine.

Hannah Herschler competed a cast to handstand, shoot up and giant all for the first time on bars.

Congratulations to Janika Scriba and Brooklyn Batch for coming home with a medal in the first meet of the year in JO level 10.

Janika received a Bronze on the bars while Brooklyn came home with a bronze medal on the floor.

Tyza Skuse captured the 7th place ribbon on bars, took 9th place on floor, finished 10th on both vault and beam to come home in an 8th place tie with Jordan

Ksenia Stansell won the 9th place ribbons on both vault and bars, took 10th on beam and finished 11th on floor to come home in 11th place in the All Around.

JO 8 2003-2006

Hannah Herschler took the 6th place ribbon on bars (her only event at this competition.

JO 7 2008

Rayne Loock won the 7th place ribbon on beam, finished 12th on vault, bars and floor to come home in 12th place in the All  Around.

JO 6 2008

Ava Herschler won the 6th place ribbon on bars, took 8th place on floor, finished 10th on vault and 13th on beam to finish in 9th place in the All Around.

CR Gymnasts have strong start in Coquitlam

The Campbell River Springs sent a team of girls to the Winterfest competition held in Coquitlam combining for 7 medals and a special award on floor.  This was the first competition of the year and many of the girls were trying out new skills for the first time.

Janika Scriba competing in the JO 10 division,  added a sky rocketing ‘back layout with a two and a half twist’ on the floor as well as a ‘split full to split full leap’ connection.  She also added a toe on front dismount off of the bars.

Ksenia Stansell competing in the JO 9 division,  added a ‘toe on to handstand’ and a ‘back layout flyaway half twist’ on the bars.  Ksenia also performed an excellent ‘front aerial back handspring’ connection on the beam.

Jordan Loock, also competing in the JO level 9 added a ‘pirouette, a shoot up and a high flying double back’ in her bar routine as well as a ‘back handspring back layout step out’ and a ‘back layout full twist dismount’ on the beam.  Jordan also performed a triple turn in her floor routine.

Tyza Skuse competing in the JO level 8 division,  added a ‘back layout full dismount’ to her bar routine and a solid ‘back hand back hand’ on the beam.

Miley Konrad performed a very dynamic floor routine to win the floor award for the best performance in the JO Level 6 division.

Shyanne Johnson and Rayne Loock rounded out the athletes both winning a Silver medals on an event.

Rayne Loock won the Silver medal on the vault, took the 4th place ribbon on bars, finished 5th on both floor and beam to come home in 4th place in the All Around.

Miley Konrad won the Gold medal on floor along with the floor award (trophy)  placed 10th on the vault and finished in 11th on both bars and beam to come home in 12th place in the All Around.

JO Level 5

Shyanne Johnson captured the Silver medal on the bars, won the 4th place ribbons on vault and floor, finished 5th on the beam to come home in 4th place in the All Around.

 

Campbell River Gymnasts find success in Coquitlam

The Campbell River Gymnastics Association (CRGA) sent a group of girls to the mainland for the Winterfest Invitational held in Coquitlam January 27th . For some of the girls, it was their first time competing since the end of last season. The girls came out trying many new skills that they are trying to perfect for the season. “Many of the new skills were performed quite well! A promising start to the new year!” coach Sader commented.

Janika Sriba, competiting in the JO (Junior Olympic) level 10 for the first times came out with over a dozen new skills. She performed a yurochenko layout on the vault capturing a gold medal in the process, did a shoot over to handstand and a toe on to handstand on the bars, added a switch mount, aerial roundoff connection, a switch to split three quarters and a back layout one and a half twist dismount on the beam and on floor topped it off with a double back mount with a whip back full and connected a leg up double turn to a reverse double turn out. Brooklyn Batch second year JO level 9 added a toe on to handstand on the bars along with a giant full and a double back finish. On beam she added a jump to split mount. In her floor routine she added a back layout one and a half twist connected to a front pike salto. She also added a front handspring layout half and a leg up full turn. Ksenia Stansell in JO 8 competed a tsuk pike on the vault and competed a roundoff back layout off the beam. Nya Chailler competed a freehip half turn on the bars as well as a back handspring back tuck series on the beam for the first time. Jordan Loock, also JO 8 was successful with her freehip on the high bar at this competition adding a switch leap on the beam. Tyza Skuse competing in the JO 8 category for the first time added a tsuk pike on the vault, added pirouette on the bars, competed a back layout one and a half twist on the floor as well as a front tuck front tuck connection.

Nya Chailler won the gold medal on floor, captured the silver medal on the beam, placed 5th on bars and 7th on the vault to come home with the Bronze medal in the All Around.

Tyza Skuse won the 4th place ribbon on beam, took home the 5th place ribbon on vault, placed 8th on floor and 9th on the bars to come home in 8th place in the All Around.

Jordan Loock won 5th place ribbons on vault and beam, placed 6th on the floor and 7th on bars to come home in 4th place in the All Around.

JO 7

Shea Bridgen captured the gold medal on floor, won the bronze medals on both beam and bars, took 7th place on the vault to come home in 4th place in the All Around.

Isabella Michael won the 6th place ribbon on vault, placed 10th on the floor, took 11th on both bars and beam to come home in 10th place in the All Around.

JO 5

Rayne Loock won the 7th place ribbons on bars and beam, placed 10th on both vault and floor to come home in 8th place in the All Around.

Miley Konrad took 11th place on vault, placed 12th on both bars and beam, finished 13th on the floor to come home in 13th place in the All Around.
